He was the son of Frederick Bennett a Boot Manufacturer, born 1868 in Leicester and his wife Sarah Ann, born 1869 in Oadby, Leics. Archibald was born in 1898 in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 1, Regent Street, Oadby, Leics., in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Oadby, St. Peter. In April 1911 Archibald was residing in the family home at Stoughton Road, Oadby, Leics., together with his parents and sister Doris, born 1904 in Oadby, Leics. The War Diary entry for the 3rd to the 7th October 1916 records. LA CAUCHIE sector. These five days spent in training by Coys including Bombing, Physical Training, Musketry Manual and close order drill. On the 6th October at 10.30am Battn inspected by Major General W. Thwaites G.O.C. 46th Division. No transport.
