He was the son of John E. and Sarah Ann Webb. He was one of twelve children, two of the girls being twins, the family also lived in Newton Lane, Wigston, Leicestershire. The War Diary for today records. TRENCHES. “A” Company relieved “D” Company in QUARRY at T.18.b.8.3. Casualties 1 other rank killed in action, 2 other ranks wounded in action. During the tour in front line enemy very quiet. While in support working parties were found by Battalion for work in front line, C.T’s and tunnel in QUARRY. Our men were very active at patrol work. No enemy encountered.
