He was the grandson of Henry Brewin a house painter, born 1842 in Leicester and his wife Eliza, born 1839 in Leicester. Harry Abner was born in 1898 in Rothley, Leics., in March 1901 he was residing at Cross Green, Rothley, Leics., being the home of his paternal grandparents, also residing in the family home were his paternal uncle Harvey Brewin, born 1874 and paternal aunt, Lois Brewin, born 1878, both were born in Leicester. In April 1911 Harry was a scholar and was residing in the family home at Station Road, Anstey, Leics., together with his father Ernest a boot sewer, born 1866 in Rothley, Leics., and his mother, Hannah, born 1872 in Rothley, Leics., and his siblings, Leah, born 1891 in Rothley, Leics., Ida Evelyn, born 1894, Leonard, born 1895, Frank, born 1897 and Glady, born 1908, the latter four siblings were all born in Anstey, Leics.
