He was the son of Thomas Bull a general labourer, born 1872 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., and his wife Fanny, born 1875 in Griffydam, Leics. Thomas George was born in 1895 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., his siblings were, Helen E., born 1897 and Harold, born 1898, both his siblings were born in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 2, The Callis, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In April 1911 Thomas was employed as a butcher’s errand boy and was residing in the family home at 8, Burton Road, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., together with his father, now a blacksmith’s striker, his mother and brother Harold. The War Diary entry for events from the 28th to the 29th March 1918 records. VADENCOURT. The nucleus of the Battalion under Major N. E. C. ANDERSON remained at VADENCOURT during the 28th/29th March. The 2 composite Companies were operating in the BRAY – CHIPILLY – MORLANCOURT – RIBEMONT AREA.

LOCAL CASUALTIES

Mr and Mrs Bull, of Ashby, have been officially informed that their son, Lance-Corporal George Bull, Leicesters, previously reported as a prisoner of war, has died from wounds in Germany. He was formerly employed at the Albion Clay Works, Woodville.
