He was the son of Thomas Lovett a frame work knitter, born 1853 in Barrow on Soar, Leics., and his wife Ann Elizabeth (nee Ball), born 1852 in Barrow on Soar, Leics. Harold was born in 1890 in Barrow on Soar, Leics., his siblings were, Herbert W., a bricklayer’s labourer, born 1884 in Leicester and Alice Ann, born 1895 in Barrow of Soar, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Bread Croft Lane, Barrow upon Soar, Leics. In April 1911 Harold was employed as a joinery worker and was residing in the family home at Church Street, Barrow on Soar, Leics., together with his parents and sister Alice a factory worker. Harold was baptised on the 4th April 1890 at Barrow upon Soar, Leics. On Friday August 31st 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “LOCAL AND DISTRICT NEWS” – BARROW ON SOAR. LOCAL CASUALTIES.- Mr and Mrs T. Lovett, of Church Street, Barrow on Soar, are notified that their son, Rifleman Harold Lovett, has been wounded.
