He was the son of John Ainsworth a Lime Labourer, born 1850 in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire and his wife Mary, born 1851 in Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Leicestershire. John was born 1n 1881 in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire, his siblings were, Albert, born 1876, Walter Dickinson, born 1883 and Mary Jane, born 1885, all his siblings were born in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire. In 1891 the family home was at South Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire. In 1901 John gave his trade or calling as a Railway Labourer, and was residing as a boarder at 281, Back Premises of Hotel, Saffron Lane, Leicester. In 1911 John gave his trade or calling as a Quarryman and was residing as a boarder at Mountsorrel Cottages, Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire. John was baptised on the 2nd January 1881 in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire. The War Diary for today records. On outpost duty as before.
