Joseph Alford Clark was born in 1892 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., his siblings were, Fred, born 1886, Thomas H., born 1891, John W., born 1896, Martha Ann, born 1899 and Mary Jane, born 1901, all his siblings were born in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., also residing with the family was his aunt, Martha Powdrill, born 1879 in Gotham, Notts., in March 1901 the family home was at North Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics. In April 1911 Joseph was employed as a shoe trade worker and was residing in the family home at New Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Martha, Mary and Doris, born 1908 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics.
