He was the son of Alfred B. Cook a licensed victualler, born 1860 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., and his wife Mary, born 1864 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics. Wilfred was born in 1899 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., his siblings were, Alfred, born 1885, Joseph, born 1886, Hetty, born 1889, Clara, born 1890, Walter, born 1893, Mary, born 1895, Frank, born 1897 and an unnamed male infant, born 1901, all his siblings were born in Barrow upon Soar, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at the Fox Inn, North Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics. In April 1911 Wilfred was a scholar and was residing in the family home at Bridge Street, Barrow upon Soar, Leics., together with his father, now a carpenter, his mother and siblings, Alfred, Hetty, Clara, Walter, Mary, Frank and Eva, born 1905 in Barrow upon Soar, Leics.
