Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Edwin Sewell Pepper of Hinckley, Leics., and the brother of Miss E. M. Pepper. From being a child he lived with his grandparents, Mr and Mrs Anthony Pepper of Barrowden, Rutland. He was at one time an assistant schoolmaster, and the last that was heard of him before his enlistment was that he was resident in South Africa. He embarked for France in 1917 and was presumed killed by a shell during the attack on Bullicourt. Other sources show his place of residence as Goole, Yorks.
