He was the son of Joshua Smith Bennett a Shoe Clicker, born 1857 in Barwell, Leics., and his wife Frances Elizabeth, born 1856 in Leicester. Frederick Charles was born in 1896 in Barwell, Leics., his siblings were George, born 1878, Alice, born 1879, William, born 1882, Amelia Ann, born 1884, Sarah, born 1887, Maud Frances, born 1889 and Florence Mary, born 1891, all his siblings were born in Barwell, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 9, Barracks, Barwell, Leics. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as an Office Boy and was residing in the family home at Brockey Lane, Barwell, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Amelia, Maud and Florence.
