He was the son of John Bray a shoe riveter, born 1869 in Barwell, Leics., and his wife Rose, born 1871 in Bristol, Glos. Frank was born in 1896 in Barwell, Leics., his siblings were Ernest, born 1893 and Harry, born 1894, the latter two siblings were both born in Leicester, Blanche, born 1901 in Barwell, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 20, Stafford Street, Barwell, Leics. In April 1911 Frank was employed as a boot riveter and was residing in the family home at 29, Brockey Lane, Barwell, Leics., together with his widowed father and siblings, Ernest, Harry, Blanche and Elizabeth, born 1904 in Barwell, Leics., also residing with the family was his paternal aunt Eda Barrett (nee Bray), born 1870 in Barwell, Leics., and his paternal cousin Edith C.
