He was the son of Thomas Robert Franklin, a boot factory manager, born 1858 in Leicester and his wife Elizabeth Franklin (nee Sutton, married on the 23rd April 1878 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby, Leicestershire), born 17th January 1856 in Welford, Northamptonshire. John Sutton was born in the 2nd quarter of 1894 in Blaby, Leicestershire and was baptised on the 20th May 1894 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby, his siblings were, Sarah Mabel, a Griswold knitter, born in the 1st quarter of 1883 and Lydia, a shoe trade fitter born 23rd October 1885, the latter two siblings were both born in Leicester, Clara, born in the 1st quarter of 1887 and baptised on the 15th December 1889 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby and Arthur, born in the 1st quarter of 1889, the latter two siblings were both born in Glen Parva, Leicestershire, Robert Edwin, born 8th August 1891 and baptised on the 20th September 1891 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby and Edith Lilian, born 5th October 1896 and baptised on the 27th June 1897 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby, the latter two siblings were both born in Blaby, in March 1901 the family home was at James Street, Blaby. In April 1911 John was employed as a boot maker and was residing in the family home at James Street, Blaby, together with his father, a boot maker, his mother and siblings Clara, Edith a shoe trade worker, and Ethel, born in the 3rd quarter of 1902 in Blaby and baptised on the 5th October 1902 in All Saint’s Church, Blaby. John had two older siblings, Elizabeth, born 1879 and baptised on the 17th April 1879 in St. Matthew’s Church, Leicester and Thomas, born 1881, both siblings were born in Leicester. In the 1st quarter of 1916, John married Emma Elizabeth Spencer in the Leicester district, Emma was born on the 10th January 1891 in Aylestone, Leicester and was baptised on the 17th April 1892 in St. James’ Church, Aylestone Park, Leicester, they had a son John W., born in the 4th quarter of 1918 in Leicester, the family home was at Church Road, Aylestone, Leicester. In 1920 they had moved to 87, Dartford Road, Aylestone, Leicester. John died in March 1921, aged 26 and was interred in Blaby Cemetery on the 29th March 1921.
