John Leslie was born in the 1st quarter of 1896 in Blaby, in March 1901 the family home was at Whetstone Road, Blaby. In April 1911 John was residing in the family home at New Street, Blaby, together with his father a shoe trade finisher, his mother and siblings, Harry, born 1902, Gwenyth, born 1905 and Florence, born 1909, all his siblings were born in Blaby.
