He was the son of the late Henry Bloor a potter’s labourer, born 1861 in Woodville, Derbys., and his wife Jane, born 1864 in Blackfordby, Leics. John was born in 1897 in Blackfordby, Leics., his siblings were Charles, born 1885, Henry, born 1887 and William, born 1890, the latter three siblings were all born in Woodville, Derbys., and Mary Jane, born 1900 in Blackfordby, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Blackfordby, Leics., in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Blackfordby, St. Margaret. In April 1911 John was employed as a labourer at a pipe works, and was residing as a boarder at Blackfordby, Leics., together with his siblings, Charles, Henry and Mary.
