He was the son of Edward Lewyn Stringer and Alice Lilian Arabella Stringer of “The Elms”, Marlbrook, Bromsgrove, Worcs. Other sources show his Battalion as the 2nd. His enlistment documents record that he gave his trade or calling as Machinist and his next of kin as his father, Edward Stringer of Bromsgrove, England. He stated that he was unmarried. Information taken from his medical examination shows that he was 5 foot 6 inches in height and had a chest measurement of 33 to 34 ½ inches. His complexion was described as fair with blue eyes and light hair. He gave his religion as Church of England.
