He was the son of Arthur Wormleighton, a hosiery trade trimmer, born 1876 in Burbage, Leicestershire and his wife Kate Wormleighton (nee Nicholls, married in the 3rd quarter of 1895 in the Hinckley, Leicestershire district), a hosiery trade cutter, born 1876 in Burbage. Wilfrid was born in the 2nd quarter of 1898 in Burbage, he had one sibling, a sister, Elsie, born 1896 in Burbage, in March 1901 the family home was at 23, Windsor Street, Burbage, Leicestershire. In April 1911 Wilfrid was residing in the family home at 15, Salem Road, Burbage, Leicestershire, together with his father, a hosiery trade trimmer, his mother and sibling, Stanley, born 1904 in Burbage.
