ContributeSource: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland. He was the son of James and Catherine E. Foxon. His brother Sidney also fell.
Source: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. "My great grandad and grandma Foxon lived at 15 Sketchley Road, Burbage. They had a daughter, Sarah who married Walter Cecil Cheney, they lived at 13 Sketchley Road, Burbage. My grandad and grandma Cheney had 3 children, Walter, Dorothy Maud and Sylvia May. My mother was Sylvia May Cheney who married my father John Richard Warner after he came back from the 2nd World War. They resided with my Grandma and Grandad Cheney at 13 Sketchley Road, Burbage until I was just over 2 years old, when we moved to Ashby Road, Burbage. That was in 1954. Walter Cheney (brother of Sylvia) married Lillian and Dorothy Maud married Frank Ward. I can remember 13 Sketchley Road and No. 15 (joined by the entry). Grandma had an organ in her front room and apparently used to run a sweet shop from the front room, my Grandad used to work at Burbage Nurseries and I alway remember the pyrethrums both at the nursery and in their back garden. My grandad had a horse and cart. I think there was some connection between the Cheney's (Walter was my grandad) and a family in Wolvey, but cannot trace them. They had a cold water pump in the kitchen and one part way up the garden. I think there was some relationship between the Foxon family and the Chamberlains who lived, possibly at No. 21? I think (their daughter moved to South Africa and used to send clothes for me). I do know that all of the Foxon and the Cheney family used to attend Burbage Methodist Church in Windsor Street, I attended sunday school and was on the platform at the annual sermons. All of the above are now deceased, I am married to Stephen Spence of Lutterworth Road, Burbage, formerly married to Michael Peter Hicks (part of the Dakin/Hicks family) I have 4 children 3 girls who are married and have three children each and I have 1 son who has 1 child. So there are 10 grandchildren to add to the Foxon family line."
