He was the son of the late George Robinson, and his wife Annie a charwoman, born1865 in Walsgrave on Sowe, Warwks. Arthur Raymond D., was born in 1893 in Melton Mowbray, Leics., he had one sibling, a sister, Lucy Emma, born 1892 in Melton Mowbray, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 22, Salisbury Avenue, Melton Mowbray, Leics. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a farm labourer and was residing in the family home at Burton Lazars, Leics., together with his step father, George Stimpson, a farm labourer, born 1863 in Langham, Rutland and his mother, and his sibling Ivy Rebecca, born 1902 in Melton Mowbray, Leics., and his half blood sibling, George William Stimpson, born 1902 in Burton Lazars, Leics. On Friday August 17th 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “LOCAL AND DISTRICT NEWS” – BURTON LAZARS. MEMORIAL SERVICE.- A memorial service was held on Sunday evening for Gunner Arthur Robinson, son of Mr and Mrs G. Stimson. The deceased, who died of wounds, was 23 years of age, and was respected by all who knew him. Much sympathy is felt for his relatives. He was the first soldier to fall out of those who have gone from the village. The favourite hymns of deceased were sung, also special psalms and prayers were used. A most impressive sermon was preached to a good congregation by the Rev. H. T. Mogridge. At the close the National Anthem was sung by the wish of the deceased’s parents.
