He was the son of John Henry Eaton, a margarine manufacturer, born July 1869 in Cavendish Bridge, Castle Donington, Leicestershire and his wife Bettie Hardin Eaton (nee McConochie, married on the 13th February 1894 in Taylor, Texas, U.S.A.), born 1870 in the U.S.A. John Rodman was born in 1896 in the U.S.A., he had one sibling, a sister Marion Sanford, born 1898 in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, in March 1901 the family home was at Bondgate, Castle Donington, Leicestershire. In April 1911 John was employed as an apprentice mechanical engineer and was residing at 33, Grange Avenue, Chapeltown Road, Leeds, Yorkshire. John latterly resided at 149, Thornbury Road, Osterley Park, Isleworth, Middlesex. He died from wounds (accidental).
