The War Diary for today records. HESBECOURT. B and C Coy’s took over front line during evening. 8.30pm. Artillery preparation. 9.15pm. 2nd/4th Battn LINCOLNSHIRE REGT attacked FERVAQUE FARM, but failed owing to inability to clear wire.

Henry James was actually Harry James, but when the war memorial was created he was mis-recorded as Henry.
He was 31 when he was killed.
At the time of his death, he had two very young sons and was married.
