Source: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. Lance Corporal Thomas W Wright is thought to have been captured by the Germans during March or April 1918, during the German spring offensive. He died in captivity as a Prisoner of War, cause of death unknown.
Although his family had sent Red Cross parcels to him during his time as a POW, they learned after the war that these had not been received. Records show that after Thomas died, an amount of uncollected pay was forwarded to his family.
Thomas was originally buried at Charleville on the River Meuse, before being moved to the present location in December 1966.
