113387 Flying Officer PETER ALLEN BALL Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 5th August 1942, age 23, with No.44 (Rhodesia) Sqn.

Son of Amand George and Olive Elizabeth Ball, of Coalville, Leicestershire. He was the Pilot of Avro Lancaster BI R5603 KM.D on a sortie to attack Essen. The aircraft disappeared without trace and all seven crew members, thus, have no known graves and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. He had previously served with No.49 Sqn where he received his Distinguished Flying Medal which appeared in the London Gazette dated 6th June 1941. He was a Sergeant when he received the Decoration. He was commissioned from Flight Sergeant (Service No.754044) as a Pilot Officer on 15th November 1941.
