A report in the Illustrated Leicester Chronicle of 21/8/1943 reads:

Sergt Air Gunner Kenneth Edwards (20) eldest son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Edwards, 15 Forest Road Hugglescote, who was killed on active service, was buried at Hugglescote. The coffin was covered with a Union Jack and a detachment of the RAF headed the cortege.
