He was the son of Thomas Chesterton a grazier, born 1865 in Earl Shilton, Leics., and his wife Mary Ann, born 1863 in Medbourne, Leics. White was born in 1899 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., his siblings were, Burly, born 1890 in Thringstone, Leics., Janet May, born 1892, Ann, born 1893 and Vendy, born 1895, the latter three siblings were all born in Belton, Leics., Horace, born 1897 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Gumley Road, Smeeton Westerby, Leics. In April 1911 White was a scholar and was residing at Brook Hill Farm, Peatling Magna, Leics., this being the home of his brother Burley, now a farmer, also residing in the family home was his married sister Janet and her husband, Thomas Herbert Higgs a farmer, born 1890 in Bruntingthorpe, Leics., and his siblings, Ann, Horace, Vendy, Grace, born 1905 and an unnamed baby boy, born 1911, the latter two siblings were both born in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., at this time his father, now an inn keeper and his mother were residing at The Cock Inn, Peatling Magna, Leics.
