He was the son of William Annis an Agent, born 1848 in Teigh, Rutland and his wife Mary Ann, born 1855 in Whitechapel, London. George was a Warehouseman and was born in 1890 in Edmonton, Middlesex, his siblings were Helen Rose, born 1882 in Islington, London, Percy, John, born 1888 in Edmonton, Middlesex, Ethel, born 1889 in Edmonton, Middlesex and Alma, born 1888 in Westminster, London, in April 1911 the family home was at 2, Linthorpe Road, Stamford Hill, London. He was for some years a warehouseman with Messrs. Tabourier and Company, Castle Street, West London. After enlistment and training he embarked for France in March 1915, serving until the 10th January 1916, when he was admitted to hospital suffering from jaundice, he was moved to England in March and died in University College Hospital, London of pneumonia following an operation for appendicitis. His brother Percy John also fell.
