He was the son of Joseph Jesson, a coalman, born 1862 in Enderby, Leicestershire and his wife Martha Eliza Jesson (nee Young, married in the 2nd quarter of 1885 in the Blaby, Leicestershire district), born 1864 in Enderby, Cecil was born in the 3rd quarter of 1888 in Enderby, he had one sibling, a brother Alfred, born 1886 in Enderby, in April 1891 the family home was at High Street, Enderby, Leics. In March 1901 Cecil was employed as a farm boy and was residing in the family home at Cross Street, Enderby, together with his father, a quarry labourer, his mother and siblings, Alfred, a groom and coachman, Oliver, born 1892, Edith, born 1894, Dorothy, born 1897 and Joseph, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Enderby. In April 1911 Cecil was employed as a quarry labourer and was residing in the family home at Cross Street, Enderby, together with his father, a quarry labourer, his mother and siblings, Edith, a Griswold knitter, Dorothy a weaver, Joseph, a schoolboy and Jack, a schoolboy, born 1905 in Enderby. On the 22nd May 1912 Cecil married Sarah Ann Jarratt, in the Blaby, Leicestershire district, they resided at Lutterworth Road, Blaby, Cecil and Sarah had a daughter, Florence Mary, born on the 2nd November 1913.
Cecil enlisted into the Royal Flying Corps, 2nd Balloon Apron and had then been transferred to the newly formed Royal Air Force on the 21st April 1918. His medical examination recorded that he was 5 foot 4¾ inches in height and had a chest measurement of 36 inches, he gave his trade or calling as warehouse and goods delivery man. Cecil died on the 8th June 1918 and was buried in Blaby cemetery, on the 13th June 1918. The burial records record Cecil’s place of residence as Aldersbrook Road, Manor Park, East Ham, Essex, it has to be assumed that this address would indicate the locality of the base in which he was serving at the time of his death.
