Leicestershire Officer Killed
Capt. Charles Henry Aubrey Cartwright, R.N. who has been killed at Rotterdam, where he was shipping adviser, lived at the Oaklands, Gaddesby, Leicestershire. He had resided in Leicestershire for almost eleven years, and was a familiar figure in the hunting field, especially with the Quorn. He was called up in August. A memorial service is to be held at Gaddesby Church.

Capt. Charles Henry Aubrey Cartwright, R.N. of Gaddesby, Leicestershire, shipping adviser in Amsterdam, who was killed in action at Rotterdam on May 10 last, left £5,044 12s 8d, with net personality £2,191 2s 9d.
He left £100 to his son’s nurse, Jane Album, for her kindness and attention and the faithful way in which she has carried out her duties. £100 to his stud groom, Sene Album, if still in his service. £100 to each executor acting, and the residue to his son, William Aubrey, on attaining 21 years, otherwise to the children of his sister, Lady Watson, and of his brother Algernon R. A. Cartwright.
Probate has been granted to his nephew, John R. Watson, of The Grange, Wembley.

A large collection of Aubrey's letters home have recently come to light- these were sent from various addresses, including Sludge Hall, Billesdon and Kineston, Warks.
In one letter, Aubrey gives advice and guidance to his son 'in case anything should happen', as to how he should conduct his life.
