He was the son of Theodore, a Hosiery Manufacturer, and his late wife Annie Walker. He died from tuberculosis after the cessation of hostilities. Robert had embarked for Salonika on the 7th September 1916. He was educated at Rugby Public School. His father presented a half acre of ground for a cemetery extension in memory of his son.
