He was the son of Harry Burdett a granite quarry man, born 1869 in Markfield, Leics., and his wife Elizabeth, born 1868 in Scopwick, Lincs. Timothy Richard was born in 1894 in Groby, Leics., he had one sibling, a brother George Harry, born 1893 in Markfield, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Ratby Road, Groby, Leics. In April 1911 Timothy was employed as a stone worker’s labourer and was residing in the family home at Groby, Leics., together with his parents and brother George. His brother George Harry also fell.
