He was the son of William Boobyer a coal miner, born 1859 in Ibstock, Leics., and his wife Maria, born 1867 in Heather, Leics. William was born in 1894 in Heather, Leics., his siblings were Beatrice, born 1891, May, born 1897 and Ivy, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Heather, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Peggs Lane, Ibstock, Leics. In April 1911 William was employed as a coal miner and was residing as a boarder at 14, Melbourne Road, Ibstock, Leics. In the January, February, March quarter of 1913, William married Eliza Parker in the Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., registration district. In the April, May, June quarter of 1918, William’s widow Eliza, married Arthur Unwin in the Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., registration district, they resided at 72, Leicester Road, Whitwick, Leics.

News has been received that Corporal Wm. Boobyer, aged 23, of the Worcestershire Regiment, was killed in action in France on October 16th. He leaves a wife and two children who are residing at 46, Leicester Road, Whitwick, and formerly worked at Ibstock Colliery, being a native of Heather.

HEATHER SOLDIER KILLED
Corporal William Boobyer, aged 23, of the Worcestershire Regiment, killed in action, October 16th. He was a native of Heather, and worked at Ibstock Colliery before the war. His wife and two children reside at 46, Leicester Road, Whitwick.

WHITWICK
MEMORIAL SERVICE
A memorial service was held at the Whitwick Wesleyan Church on Sunday evening for Corporal William Boobyer, recently killed in action, whose wife resides in Leicester Road. The Whitwick and Thringstone Citizen Corps, under Commander J. Lester, attended, also the Boy Scouts and there was a large congregation. Mr W. E. Mawby, of Leicester, was the preacher, and suitable hymns were sung. The Dead March was played at the close by Mr Aris, and Scout Richards sounded the Last Post.
