He was the son of William Bradford a coal miner, born 1868 in Heather, Leics., and his wife Clara, born 1871 in Heather, Leics. William was born in 1894 in Heather, Leics., his siblings were Alfred, born 1889, Percy, born 1897 and Violet, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Heather, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Bradley’s Yard, Main Street, Heather, Leics. In April 1911 William was employed as a brick presser and was residing in the family home at Station Terrace, Heather, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Alfred, Percy, Violet, Arthur, born 1902 and Thomas, born 1905, the latter two siblings were both born in Heather, Leics., and Elsie, born 1908 in Ibstock, Leics. The War Diary for today records. Battn in trenches. Enemy threw several bombs during night 25th/26th June, all falling about 25 yards short of saphead E 11. We threw 24 bombs from saphead E 11 but only seven exploded. During night enemy put up wire in front of their line. 56th RIFLES commenced to make supervision trench behind front line.

HUGGLESCOTE SOLDIER’S DEATH
Private Wm. Bradford, of the Leicestershire Regiment, is officially reported to have died of disease, at the Persian Gulf, on June 26th. His parents reside at Station Terrace, Heather.
