He was the son of Mary Beadsworth (nee Makepeace), a Silk Winder, born 1853 in Leicester. Arthur was the husband of Polly Beadsworth, born 1874 in Leicester, Arthur was a Shoe Finisher and was born in 1876 in Hinckley Leicestershire, they had two children, Leslie Arthur Richard, born 1898 and Norah Mariah, born 1899, both children were born in Hinckley, Leicestershire, in March 1901 the family home was at 169, Western Road, Leicester, this being situated within the Ecclesiastical Parish of The Martyrs. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a Shoe Finisher and was residing in the family home at 15, Occupation Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire together with his wife of eleven years, Polly and his children, Leslie, Norah and Maggie, born 1909 in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Arthur died from being gassed. The War Diary for today records. REUTEL. 4.45am. “A” and “C” Companies withdrew from their forward position to about 500 yards westward to allow 7th Division attack to pass through. At 8.00am the situation being vague in front “A” and “C” Companies moved back to the positions they had vacated. This movement was observed by the enemy and his shell fire caused us some casualties. During the night patrols were sent out to find the 2nd HONOURABLE ARTILLERY COMPANY who had attacked in the morning. Only a few were found and there were many wounded about. They had no definite line.
