He was the son of Robert Loftus Bonner a general carter, born 1856 in Leicester and his wife Ellen, born 1857 in Burbage, Leics. Humphrey was born in 1897 in Hinckley, Leics., his siblings were Ellen, born 1882 in Brigstock, Northants, Martha, born 1886 and Alice, born 1895, the latter two siblings were both born in Hinckley, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 2, Rugby Road, Hinckley, Leics. In April 1911 Humphrey was employed as a general carter and was residing in the family home at 4, Rugby Road, Hinckley, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Martha and Alice. Humphrey died of sickness.
