He was the son of the late Thomas Bott and his wife Rosina Whitmore Bott a hosiery cutter, born 1852 in Burbage, Leics. Harry was born in 1892 in Hinckley, Leics., he had one sibling, a brother Arthur, born 1896 in Hinckley, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 13, Queen’s Road, Hinckley, Leics. In April 1911 Harry was employed as a butcher’s assistant and was residing in the family home at 41, Queen’s Road, Hinckley, Leics., together with his widowed mother and brother Arthur, also residing with the family was his widowed maternal grandmother, Matilda Ella Bradley, born 1841 in Leicester.
