He was the son of the late Reverend Robert Carr, and his wife Sarah E. Carr, born 1857 in Liverpool, Lancs., Robert Meredith Carr was born in 1889 in Douglas, Isle of Man, in April 1891 he was residing with his widowed mother at 236, Strand Road, Bootle cum Linacre, Lancs., this being the family home of his widowed maternal grandfather George Meredith a coal depot manager, born 1825 in Hopton, Salop. In March 1901 Robert was residing in the family home of his widowed maternal grandfather George Meredith at 236, Stand Road, Bootle cum Linacre, Lancs., together with his widowed mother. In April 1911 Robert was employed as a school master and was residing at 143, Clarendon Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hants.
