ContributeSource: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland. He was the son of Mr J. Goadby of Bond Street, Hinckley, Leics. The War Diary entry for this day shows the Battalion position as Fosse Maruel, there was some shell fire by day and sniping at night, casualties sustained were two Privates killed, and five wounded, and one Officer died of his wounds, it has to be assumed that John was one of the casualties.
