Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of Mrs Robinson. The citation for the award of the Military Cross reads:- “Throughout two days, Sergeant Major Robinson worked, unceasingly, organising and directing parties of stretcher bearers, using the advanced dressing aid posts and supervising the work of the advanced dressing station which was continually shelled. Later his marked organising ability was made use of in the establishing of a new casualty dressing station to meet the emergency created by the absence of any clearing station within a short distance, and thanks to his skill and resource and unstinting energy, several hundred wounded cases were rapidly evacuated in comparative comfort. His courage and endurance and devotion to duty during a period of ten days fighting have been an inspiration to all ranks.”
