He was the son of George Corke, a general labourer, born 1864 in Eastham, Worcs., and his wife Harriet Corke (nee Bromage), a dressmaker, born 1859 in Bromyard, Herefordshire. Richard Arthur was born in 1889 in Hanley Child, Worcs., he had one sibling, a sister Elsie, born 1891 in Tenbury, Worcs., in April 1891 the family home was at Westbrook Cottage, Tenbury, Berrington, Worcs. In April 1911 Richard was employed as a farm wagoner and was residing as a servant at Long Lane, Kegworth, Leics. In the third quarter of 1913, Richard married Mary Elizabeth Bishop in the Shardlow, Derbyshire marriage registration district. In the third quarter of 1914 a son, George Corke was born in the Shardlow, Derbyshire registration district. Richard died of fever.
