He was the son of William Brutnell a carpenter, born 1869 in Kibworth, Leics., and his wife Fanny, born 1870 in Kibworth, Leics. Tom was born in 1897 in Kibworth, Leics., his siblings were Ethel, born 1893 and Ida May, born 1896, both his siblings were born in Kibworth, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at High Street, Kibworth, Leics. In April 1911 Tom was employed as a butcher’s errand boy and was residing in the family home at The Royal Oak, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leics., together with his father, now an innkeeper, his mother and siblings, Ethel, Ida and Walter, born 1909 in Kibworth, Leics.
