Source: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. Hubert was born in 1895 in Twycross. He was married to Esthel Miller, daughter of Mr.H Miller of 54 Ashby Road, Loughborough, the secretary of the borough band, on Christmas 1917.
He was the husband of Ethel Brewin (formerly White), of 110, Station St., Loughborough.
Before the war Harry was employed at the Snibstone Colliery in Coalville.
Military Service
Hubert had been 3 years and 7 months in the Service.
Hubert enlisted in Coalville. He died from the result of gas poisoning received on May the 1st; he died in the hospital at Ipswich on Sunday 9 th June 1918 at the age of 23.
His death was reported in the Coalville Times on Friday 21st June 1918.
It was reported in the Loughborough roll of honour, that at his funeral ceremony, a firing party attended from Glen Parva and fired volleys over the grave, and The last Post was sounded on the bugles. The bearers were all local men home on leave. The deceased comrades at Ipswich hospital sent a wreath.
He is remembered with Honour at Loughborough (Leicester Road) Cemetery-ref: 20/283, but also at Coalville Clock Tower Memorial, and at Christ Church Coalville
