He was the son of John Laughton, a domestic gardener, born 1837 in Lutterworth, Leics., and his wife Rebecca Laughton (nee Hancock, married in the 4th quarter of 1862 in the Lutterworth, Leics. district), a charwoman, born 1842 in Walton, Leics. Frank was a schoolboy and was born in the 1st quarter of 1878 in Lutterworth, Leics., his siblings were, William, a schoolboy, born 1870, Selina Mary, a schoolgirl, born 1873, Harriet Rebecca, a schoolgirl, born 1875 and Gertrude Annis, born 1881, all his siblings were born in Lutterworth, Leics., in April 1881 the family home was at Private House, Dixon’s Court, Lutterworth, Leics. In the 4th quarter of 1899, Frank’s father died aged 62 in the Lutterworth, Leics., district. In April 1911 Frank was employed as a bricklayer’s labourer and was residing in the family home at Dixon’s Court, Lutterworth, Leics., together with his widowed mother.
