Leonard (Leon) Cowley was the son of Charles and Emma Cowley and the husband of Florence Rose Cowley, of East Langton, Leicestershire.
On the 15th June 1945, the Market Harborough Advertiser reported that he had died from wounds in Burma:

'Market Harborough Man Dies of Wounds'

'A sharp reminder that all war is not over is the sad news that Pte. Leon Cowley, aged 32, second son of Mr and Mrs E Cowley of 157 Logan Street, Market Harborough, has died of wounds received in Burma. Pte Cowley leaves a widow and six year old daughter.
Before joining the Army in 1941 he was a well-known Market Harborough amateur boxer. He was employed at Messrs. Looms.
