William Dicks was the son of Harry and Elizabeth Dicks, and the husband of Vera M. Dicks, of Market Harborough.

In Memoriam notice from 1st June 1945, Market Harborough Advertiser:

'DICKS- In Loving Memory of a dear Son and Brother, Gunner William (Bill) Dicks, died May 31st 1943, in Palermo Hospital, Sicily, POW.
A soldier's grave in a foreign land
Holds one we loved so dear
Whose smiling face will not come back
When they sound the last 'All clear'
