Market Harborough Sailor's Death
Mr and Mrs G. Robinson, 71 St Mary's Road, Market Harborough, have now received officially the sad news of the death of their only son. John Henry Frankham, reported missing Dec 3rd 1944. The Admiralty state that he met his death while on patrol in the Malacca Straits. The Japanese surface craft dropped depth charges and damaged their ship so badly that it could not surface.
Before leaving for the Far East 18 months ago he passed as Sto. PO. Previous to joining the Navy nine years ago he was employed as fireman on the LMS Railway. He had also worked for Harborough Rubber Company. He was well liked among his friends.
