'Market Harborough Guardsman Killed'
'Mrs M. Mason has received news that her husband Sgt. Neville Mason of 24 Goward Street, has died of wounds in France. Sgt. Mason joined up in the Grenadier Guards in April 1939. At the outbreak of the war he went to France, returning via Dunkirk and had been in this country until recently. He was 29 years of age and leaves a widow and one son who is not yet two years. His parents reside at 25 Goward Street.
sgt Mason's wife lost her father in the Great War; Pte DJ Hinion, a Market Harborough man, thus sustaining a loss in both wars.'
