He was the son of William Brown a bricklayer’s labourer, born 1851 in Newton, Warwks., and his wife Emma, born 1849 in Fulbourn, Cambs. Walter James was born in 1889 in Kibworth, Leics., he had one sibling, a brother John W., born 1876 in Kibworth, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Main Street, Kibworth Harcourt, Leics. In April 1911 Walter was employed as a hosiery trade worker and was residing at Saddington Road, Fleckney, Leics., with his wife Elizabeth Elena a hosiery trade worker, born 1890 in Oadby, Leics., and their son John, born 1911 in Fleckney, Leics., this being the home of his in law’s, John Folwell, a hosiery trade worker, born 1869 in Fleckney, Leics., and his wife Mary, born 1862 in Oadby, Leics., and their children Edith Ellen Folwell, born 1892, Maynard Folwell, born 1898 and Grace Folwell, born 1905, all three children were born in Fleckney, Leics.
