He was the son of Sarah J. Moreton a housemaid and domestic servant, born 1872 in Ibstock, Leics. James Weston Moreton was born in 1891 in Bosworth, Leics., in April 1891 he was residing together with his mother as inmates at the Union Workhouse, Market Bosworth, Leics. In March 1901 Sarah J. Moreton was employed as a domestic cook and was residing as a servant at 42, Derby Road, Loughborough, Leics. In April 1911 James Walter Burrows was employed as a coal miner and was residing in the family home at Thornton Road, Markfield, Leics., together with his wife Mary Louisa Burrows (nee Tarry), born 1892 in Markfield, Leics. The above details are assumed only, due to the inability to find the birth record of a James Moreton Burrows or James Walter Burrows. The War Diary for today records that the Battalion were in the Fresnoy sector. Training in artillery formation, gas and close order drill carried out, and company arrangements during the morning.
