He was the son of Thomas Bunning, a farmer, born 1853 in Empingham, Rutland and his wife Ellen Bunning (nee Abbott, married in the 1st quarter of 1886 in the Thrapston, Northamptonshire district), born 1856 in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. Arthur Victor was born on the 27th May 1887 in Loddington, Northamptonshire and was baptised by the Rev. W. J. Meades on the 9th October 1887 in Loddington, the Godparents were, John Bryan, Thomas Freeman and Kate Abbott, in April 1891 the family home was at Loddington. In March 1901 Arthur was residing in the family home at 7, Roman Street, Leicester, together with his father, a tram driver, his mother and sister Florence Evelyn, born 1894 in Loddington. Arthur’s mother died age 51 in the 3rd quarter of 1907 in the Market Harborough, Leicestershire district. In the 1st quarter of 1910 Arthur’s widowed father married Jane Maria Warner in the Leicester district. In April 1911 Arthur was absent from the family home in Medbourne, residing there was his father, a grazier and his step mother, born 1861 in Hallaton, Leicestershire. Arthur sailed to Capetown, South Africa, leaving the Port of London aboard the SS. Galeka on the 26th September 1913. He gave his trade or calling as salesman. Arthur died of pneumonia in Woking Military Hospital, Surrey.
