He was the son of George Searcy, a saddler, born 8th January 1844 in Medbourne, Leicestershire and his wife Caroline Ann Searcy (nee Frost, married in the 2nd quarter of 1877 in the Uppingham, Rutland district), born 1852 in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Christopher Frost was born in the 3rd quarter of 1892 in Medbourne, his siblings were, Thomas Christopher, a saddler’s assistant, born 1879, James William, born 1887, Alfred, born 1894 and Caroline Ann, born 1896, all his siblings were born in Medbourne, in March 1901 the family home was at Searcy Yard, Medbourne. On the 3rd August 1915 in Kislingbury, Northamptonshire, Christopher married Margaret Howard, they had a daughter Elsie Caroline, born on the 23rd December 1915 in Medbourne.
Christopher attested into the Army on a Short Service engagement (For the Duration of the War, with the Colours and in the Army Reserve.) on the 27th November 1915 in Market Harborough. He gave his full address as Medbourne, Market Harborough, his age as 23 years and 185 days and his trade or calling as saddler and harness maker. He confirmed that he was married. He gave his wife Margaret Searcy of Medbourne, Market Harborough as his next of kin. His medical examination recorded that he was 5 foot 9 inches in height and he had a chest measurement of between 34½ and 38½ inches. He gave his religion as Church of England. His record of service began when he was allocated to the Army Reserve Class “B” on the 28/11/15. Mobilized as a Gunner, service number 179228 on the 26/10/16. Posted to the Royal Artillery depot on the 26/10/16. Posted on the 28/11/16. Transferred to the 4th Battalion Training Reserve as a Private, service number TRS/13024 on the 1/12/16. Died in Rugeley Military Hospital of pneumonia on the 16/12/16. A summary of his service records: Home Service, 27/11/15 – 27/11/15, 1 day. Army Reserve Class “B,” 28/11/15 – 25/10/16, 332 days. Home Service, 26/10/16 – 16/12/16, 52 days. Total service, 1 year 20 days. Christopher’s surviving service documents are in a very poor condition, and much of the finer detail relating to the period of time that he spent in the Army, is either illegible or missing, hence the sparse overall description of his military and personal family history.
