Thomas William Curry was a butcher and was born in 1879 in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland, he was married to Amelia Minnie, born 1882 in Buckminster, Leics., their children were, George William Cecil, born 1907 and Rachel Bower, born 1911, both children were born in Melton Mowbray, Leics., in April 1911 the family home was at 23, Clumber Street, Melton Mowbray, Leics. On Friday September 14th 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “MELTON AND THE WAR” – FORMER MELTON BUTCHER’S DEATH. The death from wounds, occurred on August 31st, of Pte. Thomas C. Curry, who formerly carried on business as a butcher at Melton Mowbray. He joined the A.S.C. and was recently transferred to the infantry. His widow and two children are now living with Mrs Curry’s father, Mr George Hawley, The Grange Farm, Buckminster.
